Yosemite West Property &
YWPHI occasionally reports about activities of the Yosemite West Planning Advisory Committee (YWPAC). YWPAC acts as a liaison between Yosemite West property owners and Mariposa County Planning Department. The committee studies development issues in Yosemite West and makes recommendations to the Mariposa County Planning Department. The recommendations that YWPAC makes to the planning department are not binding. The Mariposa County Planning Department reviews any recommendations and proceeds with those they feel have merit. Any major activities or policy issues generally go before the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors for approval.
YWPHI provides information about the YWPAC as a service to the community and is not directly involved with the activities of the committee. Contact the Mariposa County Planning Department for further information about YWPAC.
Visit the Yosemite West Home Page on the Mariposa County Planning Department's website for an archive of meeting agendas, times, places, minutes, public notices and related documents.
The nine individuals serving on the YWPAC are Yosemite West property owners who are appointed by the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors and may or may not be YWPHI members. The YWPAC members are: Rick Cashner, Mark Chapman, Harry Hagan, Ken LeBlanc, Neal Misener, Don Pitts, Pete Regla, and Bob Woolard. The Planning Department's page on the Mariposa County website posts the official list of committee members and the expiry date of their terms.
The committee currently has one vacancy (as of March 2012).
The public workshop has been rescheduled from Saturday, August 16, 2008 to Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers. Visit the Planning Department's website for updates. At the workshop, the Board will consider the Draft Plan, receive public input, and may give direction to staff related to preparation and processing of the final public draft of the Special Plan.
The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. in their chambers at the Government Center in Mariposa to discuss and potentially adopt the Yosemite West Special Plan.
The Yosemite West Special Plan has culminated seven years of meetings, discussion and compromise by the Yosemite West Planning Advisory Committee. It has been presented to the Mariposa County Planning Commission and approved with minor modifications. It has been delayed awaiting adoption of the Mariposa County General Plan (under which it will operate) and now will be discussed in a public hearing.
The Yosemite West Special Plan - if enacted - will become the controlling land use and zoning document for Yosemite West.
It is important that you to read the proposed Yosemite West Special Plan. You can download it from the Yosemite West page of the Mariposa Planning website.
Alternatively, you can download the Yosemite West Special Plan documents here. (Note: It is divded into three separate documents to facilitate download.)
Then you should voice your opinions - by attending in person to speak at the public hearing and/or in writing:
Written comments should be in no later than close of the business day on Monday, April 7, 2008 to ensure inclusion in the information packets distributed to the Supervisors in advance of the April 19th public hearing.
This is an important juncture in the development direction of Yosemite West and you should be involved.
Read the Yosemite West Special Plan Summary prepared by YWPAC Chairman, Harry Hagan.

If you are unable to attend the Public Hearing, please submit your written comments to the Mariposa County Planning Department during the public review period. The close of the public review period for the Draft Yosemite West Special Plan, Proposed Negative Declaration and Draft Zoning Amendment is Saturday, October 29, 2005.
The members of the YWPAC have been working for almost six years on this committee to develop the Yosemite West Special Plan, which is near completion. The current draft version is available as of August 2004. Download the Yosemite West Special Plan. Copies of the Yosemite West Special Plan are also available from Skip Strathearn, Senior Planner at the Mariposa County Planning Department. It is in the interest of Yosemite West residents to read and comment on the special plan since it affects everyone's property and everything in Yosemite West. Please send written comments directly to the Mariposa County Planning Department as opposed to YWPAC members.
